Santosh soon escaped from the banalities of the so-called Kashmir School of Painters and had a fascination for the living people, whom he interpreted skilfully with great sympathy in the language of modern art. He was a skilled craftsman in water colours, oils and lithography. Much of Santosh’s work was experimental, but there was in it a vitality, versatility, a keen feeling for his subject and assurance that bespeak a genuine artist.’ – Hilal Ahmed & Shabir Santosh rpt. in Exhibition of Paintings by G.R.
