Born: 1900, Telirbag, Dhaka-Vikrampur, present-day Bangladesh Died: 9 August 1970, Varanasi Education 1922-24 Learns painting at the Government School of Art, Calcutta, then under the principal-ship of Percy Brown 1924-25 Explores the fine arts at the Indian School of Oriental Art 1929 Begins to learn, along with Lalit Mohan Sen, Dhirendra Krishna Deb Barma and Sudhanghsu Sekhar Choudhury , the tehnique of painting on plaster under the direct tutelage of Prof. Sir William Rothenstein, Royal College of Arts, Kensington Select Teaching and Infrastructure-building Activities 1931-32 Paints murals at the India House, accompanied by Sen, Barma and Choudhury. The murals of the six Seasons of India , at dusk and dawn at the entrance hall (ground floor) were done by Ukil and Choudhury. The visitors lounge/ reading room has Ukil’s End of Roza (Fast) and Tordee Ragini .
