Baij had never followed any academic technique for his paintings. The artist’s brush strokes can be compared with the impressionist tool work of his sculptures. The landscape of Shantiniketan had been a driving force for him to paint a large number of landscapes and daily lives of the Santhal locals. Similar to his sculptures, his paintings predominantly capture fast moving bodies and nature as he perceives them.
