It is this light that has been mirrored in the calm sea below and has turned the water into a mass of liquid fire.... The artist lays bare to us, with his marvelous rendering of the scene, the deep meaning with which it is instinct. The fastly disappearing light of the setting sun, and the darkness aggressively converging on the scene, seem to produce a nameless melancholy in the mind-a melancholy which hovers round the things of beauty, born of the sense of their transitoriness - and chastens it into the thoughts of the beyond.” – SG Thakur Singh, Glimpses of India , Thakur Singh School of Arts, Amritsar, nd .
