His early works are largely landscapes and reflect the influence of French post-impressionist painters like Van Gogh; this work stylistically appears to be from his early period, around the first decade of the twentieth century. It is a rare oil painting by the artist who later, in search of a more indigenous artistic language, was deeply influenced by the pata painters. The painting has been adopted from Vincent Van Gogh’s masterpiece The Cypress Fields.
