His imagination is basically organic; it is just that he has an intellectual approach. Perhaps his style can be described as gurative abstraction. The approach is abstract only so far as this abstraction does not overwhelm the mood of the work, which, invariably, strikes an evocative chord in the beholder. He is rarely subjective to the extent of being ever incomprehensible and his individualism is certainly not absolute.
