Their composite character, with human, bird and animal attributes, helps enliven different images of a concept of directions of space. The images were inspired by Indian, Assyrian, Egyptian and Greek art in the British Museum, London. They represent the dichotomy of human and animal nature, and reassess the role of such images in our various cultures.’ - Lynne Greene, rpt. in Asian Artist Today: Fukuoka Annual VII 1994.
