OSIANs S.I.R. ANALYSIS Present Estimate 269.75 Auction Average 289.84 Opinion There is not enough transacted data (hence public sales) on works by Arun Bose to indicate any direction, though it is clear his historical context and contribution is not as yet appreciated by the collecting fraternity. “ Any discussion on a practising artist obviously remains open ended. And, more so about Arun Bose, a USA based artist who frequents between easel painting and intaglio print and surpasses himself every time in his artistic potential. During the early sixties, Kolkota street urchins peopled his canvasses. Their faces betraying hunger and poverty looked like masks made of bones and skins…. His paintings of the sixties enabled him to express a good deal of his outlook on the external reality more directly in a plastic manner.” (Sovon Som, rpt. in Graphics & Paintings, 1960s-1990s EXC . CIMA Gallery 2004; p.5.) Rs. 250,000 – 325,000 US$ 5,550 – 7,200 GB£ 3,050 – 3,950
