He was a painter of reputation of his time. Trained in the Bengal School style & deeply influenced by the revivalist movement, he did not hesitate to make excursions into the technical aspects of Western Painting. At a later stage, he broke away from his earlier predilections and along with Mukul Dey did pioneering work of sufficient merit and competence in the field of graphic art. His etchings, dry points and aquatints were imaginatively composed and delicately handled.
